FAQs

Does therapy work?

Research shows that therapy helps the majority of people feel better.  For many concerns, therapy is helpful on its own, and in other cases therapy is most effective in combination with other treatments, like medication. Having a collaborative and trusting relationship with your therapist is the strongest predictor of successful therapy. As a result, you and I will work together to figure out what “feeling better” means for you and come up with a plan that we both like for getting you there.

How Can I Contact You?

Feel free to call me at 651.323.1563, or send me a secure message on the contact page.

Do you accept insurance?

I am in-network with United Behavioral Health, Medica, Optum, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and United Health Care plans. I am considered out-of-network for all other insurance providers. However, I will gladly provide you with a “superbill” so you can submit claims to other insurance providers for potential reimbursement. Patients will need to confirm out-of-network behavior health benefits with their own individual insurance provider.

How long will therapy last?

There is no set dose of therapy that is helpful for everyone. Research suggests the majority of people experience improvement in 8-15 sessions. Others benefit from longer and more enduring therapy experiences. After a few sessions, you and I will have a better understanding of your concerns and goals, and I will provide you with a good faith estimate of the time and cost involved in treatment.

What can I expect in the first session?

I use the first session to get a holistic picture of your life and concerns, and to give you a sense of what being in therapy together will entail. I will probably ask you about what brings you to see me, what you are hoping for in our work together, and what life is and has been like for you with respect to relationships, work, family, and mood. I’ll also tell you a little bit about myself and answer any questions you might have about me or the therapy process.

Do you offer in-person therapy?

Yes. We can discuss whether in-person therapy or telehealth would be the best fit for your concerns.

I don’t live in Minnesota. Can I still see you?

Possibly. However, you must be present in Minnesota at the time of our meetings, even if via telehealth.
