Areas of Focus:

I work with people experiencing common barriers to a satisfying life, such as depression and anxiety, stressful life changes, grief and loss, and relationship concerns. Beyond that, I have expertise in the areas listed below.

  • Trauma

I am a trauma-informed therapist, meaning I pay attention to ways that traumatic experiences big and small may impact your brain, body, emotions, and thoughts. I am trained in Brainspotting, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), three effective and evidence-based trauma treatments. I may suggest and incorporate these in our work together, as needed.

  • Academic, Career, and Psychological Testing

I love working with people who are in school, contemplating a career change, or otherwise figuring out their professional path. I have several years of experience working in university mental health and enjoy working with students, especially those preparing for graduate and professional fields.

I also offer psychological assessments for academic and career concerns, including ADHD, learning and mental health disorders, and giftedness. Testing can help uncover the root of academic/career struggles, illuminate strengths, and provide concrete strategies for improving performance and satisfaction in daily life.

  • Supervision + Training

I am a former faculty member at the University of Minnesota and have trained and supervised counselors and psychologists for the bulk of my career. Currently, I am a board-approved individual supervisor for therapists seeking LPCC or LP licensure in Minnesota. I also provide group supervision for pre-licensed clinicians at a reduced fee.

Good Faith Estimate

Under the law as of January 1, 2022, health care providers are required to provide those who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy and testing services. You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your mental health care will cost. You may ask me for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule your service. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call (800) 985-3059.

  • Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services, such as psychotherapy or testing services.

  • You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees. You have a right to this when your appointment is scheduled three or more days in advance, and you will not be using insurance to pay for the visit (or you do not have insurance). You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.

  • If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. This must be done within 120 calendar days of receiving the bill.

  • Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.

  • Please note that you are not required to go “out of network” or “private pay” for psychotherapy services. You are at free will to choose a provider who is in network with your insurance company.

For more information on your right to a Good Faith Estimate, please visit www.CMS.gov/NoSurprises, or call 800-368-1019 with any questions.
